The Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff Reserves operating under the direct supervision and control of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office operates the Deputy Sheriff Reserve Academy Program. The Deputy Sheriff Reserve Academy provides training to Reserve Deputy Sheriff’s in Jefferson, Berkeley, Morgan, and Hancock counties. The Deputy Sheriff Reserve Academy Program is available to Reserve Deputies in the State of West Virginia at no cost to the individuals.
The overall goal of the Deputy Sheriff Reserve Academy Program is to provide each Reserve Deputy with formal standardized training through which he/she becomes fully trained and capable of performing Reserve Deputy functions; in addition the Academy Program creates a cohesive working relationship between Reserve Deputies, Deputies and all other Law Enforcement Agencies in the State of West Virginia.
The Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff Reserves, is a non-profit organization that serves the citizens of Jefferson County as an adjunct to the Sheriff’s Office. The Program is operated via donations and support of the citizens of the counties served by these Reserve Programs. Deputy Reserves perform many Sheriff’s Office duties including providing security for various events, provide traffic control, serve court papers, provide prisoner transport to/from County Courts, the Regional Jail and other facilities, in addition to other Community Outreach programs.
The Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff Reserves is registered with the IRS as a 501c3 Charitable Organization. Donations to the Academy are fully tax deductible. The Reserve Programs' tax identification number will be provided upon request.
